Shame is one of the most intolerable feelings known to man.

It is so painful and self­-rejecting that it causes us to splinter off from our core self, creating many shadow selves in order to contain and disguise that which shames us.

It is the demonization of the parts of ourselves we have deemed unacceptable.

And yet­ they are still parts of ourselves. We take them with us everywhere we go.

To deny their existence is to deny our own divinity. It is in the shadows of shame that our wounds wait to be healed and so many of our most precious gifts go unopened.

Spiritual maturity cannot be experienced until we reintegrate these demons of shame back into our sense of self with compassion and love.
